Sue Johnston, DNP

Dr. Sue Johnston practices as a nurse practitioner at the VA Medical Center in Temple, Texas. She received her Master’s from UT in Austin and her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa. She is active locally and nationally in workgroups within the VA.

The national workgroup creates competencies for preparation of VA nurses in the care of diabetes; she was part of a facility workgroup developing improved management of diabetes to reduce length of stay.

She has been Central Region Nursing Co-Leader of the Texas Team Coalition, a RWJF Coalition, and was an instructor for the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor. She also sits on the medical professional standards board for credentialing of providers for her facility. She has participated in 14 medical missions to Honduras since 1999, providing primary care in mountain villages and precepting NP and DNP students.
